Build for the operator, not the audit.
A gate exists to help the operator make a faster, better-informed decision. Not to create a defensible record after the fact.
Audit is a side effect of meaningful oversight, not its purpose.
Pre-classify before you ask.
The agent should arrive at the gate with a draft decision, the evidence, and the alternatives — so the human's job is to judge, not to assemble.
Asking 'what should I do?' wastes the human. Asking 'is this right?' uses them.
Tier the authority.
Not every decision needs the same approver. Tiered authority — case officer, manager, committee — keeps speed where speed matters and adds rigor where rigor matters.
